    Is Massachusetts the only place to get adhd medication? I am 75 this year, was thru years of adjustments to now about 20 years of successful functioning on medications. But now there is no treatment available. I need health and normalcy and I know how that arrives with medications. I am suffering without treatment. Where do I go for treatment. I am not allowed to get medical treatments. With the changes and systems I am denied service for my years of successful treatment. Directions please!

    My ferrari brain just doesn´t like old broken roads with speed limits, that millions of others drove for thousands of years. It neither wants to be driven to come from A to B like for everyday tasks... it´s just not made for things like that! A Ferrari ist made for racing on max speed on racetracks or to enjoy and occupy new ways through the Alps in Europe!!! ...I know what I'm talking about, because I´m from Austria. Love your books and everything I can learn from you! I got ADHD mixed type myself, as do my 2 - not so little - girls and my dad. My live challenge - where I grow, develop strategies and offer help - is to practice as psychology Coach, Trainer and psychologic Education especially for adults with ADHD. ...sorry for my english, but as I mentioned its a foreign language for me... A life full of love, happiness, growing, speed and new developments to you all! Marie-Theres

    very informative - couple comments --- the dr’s comments on ‘how to find meds during the shortage’, are not realistic pharmacies will not tell you if they have meds available you cannot order in advance driving around at random doesn;t work there are no real patterns to when it may be available. also you can;t easily change from one med to another without a doctor visit (assuming you knew a certain one was available, and would work (usually you know neither thing))

    In work-oriented discussions, if I've missed part of the conversation, I try to verbally reconstruct my understanding of what was said up to this point. All people are capable of missing details or focusing too strongly on a minor part of something so it's fairly natural for someone to have to repeat a portion of what they said. Also, this technique is a good way to recap a conversation and verify shared understanding even if you did get everything on the first pass. In less task-oriented discussions (such as general socializing), there are often fewer important details so it's less expected that you'll need things repeated. I have found that most people, regardless of neurotype forget almost everything from a conversation immediately after it ends. The one thing that people tend to take away is the most common emotion that they felt during the discussion. So, don't worry so much about getting everything "right" or catching every word -- instead focus on trying to gauge how the person speaking feels about what they're talking about, validate that feeling (if appropriate), and then try to repeat back to them something they just said in the form of a question such as asking for elaboration about a specific thing they said.

    Tangents are Oversharing? Never knew that. I thought oversharing was revealing too much info about a topic.e.g. My father would shout at us. And he overate.

  • @bensweiss
    @bensweiss 2 дня назад

    Never thought interrupting was specific to ADD. My father, who stuttered when I was young, would tell us not to interrupt him when he would speak. Active listening, therapy, and asking to repeat back what I've heard to try to understand and remember have been somewhat helpful somewhat. Sometimes I write down important things to remember. Sometimes I say too much and need to be more concise to let the other person speak.

    I take a different view, if I interrupt it's because you are boring me to death, why should I listen to boring people drone on about god knows what for ages on end in a meaningless loop, if you dont want me to interrupt you should hone your conversational skills, I've had enough of having to accommodate 'neurotypical people' in their organised world, time they met us half way or bugger off.

      @@kimdavis2433 you're not getting the point. They're "tone deaf" to their target audience. Understanding why's and the reasons potentially for the extreme difference in how I was 'treated' by my parents compared to my two siblings. (not positive difference). I have dropped all pretensions of fitting in, and masking. Since this I have been free. I love my life, content, in my solitude, coming out into the world when and as I need want or choose. Me and my animals. ritalin showed me what a brain with space was...wow. My ADHD when I went to get help, I thought it was anxiety. I was shocked that I had MDD, not just mild..severe. Everyone if you describe me to call me a positive person, a person who gives good advice. In fact, in some of the groups I’m in they call me. Ms. positivity and Ms. sunshine. But I’ll come home and cry myself to sleep. When I’m always happy to see you when I go to parties on the dancing people will say I’m high in something. I will tell them I’m high on me. I’m terrified of any drugs or alcohol, and I never touched any of those things. I don’t know how I would react if I’m under any influence. Yet people ask you that sometime or the other I was on drugs. I’ve never touched anything I’ve never even seen illegal drugs. Not even marijuana. I was always looking at ways to heal myself through my behavior. Boopropria saved me.

    I have been ADHD my entire life. Although I was a straight a student and skipped a couple of classes I will still called stupid. The hurtful thing is everybody around me exploited my ADHD. Because academically I was gifted, but I was not hand-eye coordinated properly. I was exploited in that people will steal my homework, ask me to do their homework, people who are in college even though I was in high school, asked me to do their paper I would let me do it. But then they’ll call me stupid still. When I had a hard time listening because I have perforated eardrum’s that was always leaking, they thought it was because it was deaf. I was partially deaf in one ear. And they will say things about me in front of me thinking I’m not hearing. However, my hypersensitivity was so severe that I could hear, faucets dripping, people whispering about me in the next room. When I would confront people who were talking about me, they will lie to me and tell me I’m delusional. No one thought of taking me to the hospital or anything as a child. I wanted to please my mother who hated me because I looked like her mother in law, so I denied that I have a problem. I did everything in my power to please her. I only got better when I left home I’ve got Help on my own. But then I met my husband who insisted I was perfect. I believe him, but he was just using me to become a US citizen. Eventually, the marriage ended. I was left alone with three kids. My depression was so bad it affected by kids. It was my son as a teenager insisted that I go get get help. He said you are super mom hardly sleep if you have three jobs. I told him it was because I need to take care of my kids. He said, please get help you are depressed. I don’t have time for it. He said you’re probably having anxiety is because your ADHD is not a super power, it’s a symptom of so much i went through. When he was an adult and my teenage daughter get nagging me, I sought help at age 52. It breaks my heart when I think I should’ve gotten to help before I have children and this way they won’t be so stressed about their mother.

    It’s pretty crazy how accurate this is. You clearly know your clients well. Most of my life I was stuck on step 1 - I didn’t have the self esteem or belief that I could overcome the challenges. A few years ago with the help of medication and assistance I’ve finally been able to overcome that. Now I am stuck on step 2 - I still self sabotage as a maladaptive coping mechanism to protect myself. I absolutely believe I can overcome the problems now, but I choose not to put of fear and need for safety. This goes in cycles and I downward spiral down a lot, and then it takes me a long time to gradually crawl back up again. I’m at that beginning of that crawl back up today, at least I hope so. Thanks, and keep doing great work with your clients and on this channel. I’m sure people will appreciate it as I have!
